We were thrilled when Catherine Eiswerth of Supernova Dobermans leased Xena. Hayley lives here at Denmel Dobermans and was our pick from the breeding of Xena to Cathy's Axel.   Hayley is one of 5 Champions from this litter.

Hayley is pictured  finishing her Championship under Judge Dani Canino. Hayley was handled mainly by Peggy Mignon, but shown above finishing her Championship owner-handled.  Hayley was bred once to "Shelby" BISS Am Ch Richwyn's Hot Rod via frozen semen which produced 10 lovely babies.  She was the best mom we have had as far as feeding her 10 babies and tolerating their antics.  We showed 3 of her offspring to their Canadian Championships in 2004 which gave Hayley the ADPC award for  Dam of the year 2004.

Soon after her litter our health testing showed Hayley with elevated liver enzymes.  After several blood tests, bile acid test and a liver biopsy, she was diagnosed with CAH (previously known as Copper Toxicosis).   Hayley was treated with dietary changes and natural supplements only, and she is currenly 9 years of age.  We hope to keep Hayley with us and healthy for much longer, but only time will tell.  Her daughters Mira and Seven were tested before being bred and showed no sign of any liver problems, and are still healthy at almost 7 years of age.  However, I believe that breeders need to practice honesty in order to avoid and eradicate all our breed health issues and this is why I share this information about Hayley.

We are striving for good health in our breeding program, and have put in many long hours doing pedigree investigation prior to any breedings.  We hope this pays off not only for us, but for all those who own and love our puppies.
